What is Aesthetic Dentistry?

Aesthetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that includes all the applications made to achieve a better smile in the mouth.

SMILE DESIGN

Aesthetics has an important place in dentistry, as in many areas of our lives. Because the teeth are in the field of direct vision. In order for the person to smile freely, the harmony of the gingival (gingival and surrounding) elements, teeth and lips is important.

Functional features have also increased with the developing technology in aesthetic dentistry. Thus, with the design we call Smile Design, a personalized ideal smile is created.

WHITE FILLING (COMPOSITE)

Since oral and dental health is not given much importance, many people have cavities in their mouths. Due to improper brushing or not brushing at all, bacteria formed by food residues settle on tooth surfaces over time and cause decay. The important thing is to prevent these decays before they get too deep. This can only be done by visiting the dentist every 6 months.

If the teeth have started to decay, the tooth should be cleaned from decay and filled without losing the tooth completely. The types of fillings applied are Metal fillings, Composite fillings and Ceramic fillings.

Metal fillings are a very strong filling type that can be used for many years. However, with today's technology, more aesthetic white fillings or ceramic fillings are preferred. It is a type of filling that is at least as strong as a metal filling and can be used easily even in front or back molars. Composite filling adapts very well to the tooth and is indistinguishable from your natural tooth because it is tooth-colored. Even if there is no decay in the teeth, composite filling is used to correct minor aesthetic defects for the front teeth. Ceramic fillings are alternative aesthetic applications used in cases where the rate of decay in the tooth is too high and cannot be saved by filling. Likewise, after the decay is cleaned, the tooth is measured and a porcelain filling is prepared in the laboratory with the CAD CAM system and placed in the patient's mouth in the second session.

PORCELAIN LAMINATE

Laminated veneers are porcelain leaflets prepared with a thickness of 0.3 millimeters applied for aesthetic purposes. These porcelain laminates are adjusted in the desired color and size. In porcelain laminate application, the surface of the tooth is very finely abraded and in some cases it is applied without any abrasion. With this treatment, small amounts of crowding on the teeth, drug discoloration on the tooth surface and yellowed teeth are permanently made white.

The only disadvantage of laminated veneers is that they are not suitable for every mouth structure and bite shape. If the person has a habit of grinding teeth, the laminates may break. In order to prevent this, a night plate is made for our patient to use at night after the end of the treatment so that fractures caused by teeth grinding do not occur.

ZIRCONIUM COATING

In aesthetic dentistry, zirconium dental treatment gives satisfying results. Zirconium tooth is a metal-free, gum-compatible and high light transmittance aesthetic tooth coating material. After the teeth are cut, they are measured and scanned in a computer environment and a three-dimensional substructure is taken. After rehearsal for the substructure, the porcelains prepared in the laboratory become suitable for insertion into the patient's mouth.

Zirconium veneers are difficult to distinguish from your natural teeth because they have an aesthetic structure. Another advantage is that it is compatible with the gums and is anti-allergic. It is lighter than metal-supported porcelain and does not cause odor in the mouth.

EMPRESS TOOTH CROWN

Empress veneers are a personalized application prepared with very sensitive devices in a computerized environment. Empress dental veneers create very little loss of material from the tooth surface. Reinforced and compressed porcelain is used instead of zirconium or metal-supported porcelain. Since it is made with reinforced glass called Empress, its light transmittance is excellent. In metal-supported veneers, the color of the metal appears as a darkening on the gums. However, this is not possible in aesthetic works such as empress. It is gum compatible and anti-allergic.

GINGIVAL AESTHETICS

Teeth have an important position in our facial area during speech and communication. The appearance, arrangement and structure of the teeth give some clues about ourselves, even if we do not want to. When we smile, we call the harmony between our gums and teeth pink aesthetics.

When the lips lift up too much during the smile, the appearance of the gums (gummy smile) makes our smile aesthetically incompatible. The first thing to look at is whether the gums are healthy. If the person has an unhealthy gum, it is first treated and then gum harmonization is performed. With a small laser procedure, the gums are leveled and an ideal smile is achieved.

Some gums lose their rose pink color and take on a black tone, which is common in dark-skinned excessive smokers. Treatment is possible and the color is lightened with laser. If you do not smoke, the rose pink color continues.
